The Bag Room
What this place is.
A note from the people who built it
Every proper club used to have a bag room — a quiet back room of worn leather, brass name tags, and rack after rack of members' gear, looked after by someone who knew every club in the building better than the players did. That room is the idea we're building on the internet: one place where the used-club market is kept in order by people who actually know equipment.
What we do
The Bag Room is a search across the used-club market. We don't sell clubs, hold inventory, or process payments — when you find the club, you buy it from the retailer or seller directly. What we do is the part the market has always done badly: getting the details right. The vast majority of used-club listings misstate or omit the specs that matter — the loft, the shaft, the flex, the very things you walked out of your fitting knowing you needed. We built this for the golfer who knows the exact build they want and would rather spend the weekend playing than scrolling.
Who's the man in the flat cap?
Angus "Gus" McLaren, keeper of the bag room. Fifty years around golf equipment, allergic to hype, generous with knowledge. When you see his mark on a listing or a pick, it means someone with opinions — considered opinions — has looked at it. He'd tell you himself: you probably don't need the new one.
How we make money
Plainly: when you follow a "View Deal" link and buy, the retailer may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra, it never changes a price, and it never decides what we show you or what Gus picks. The full detail is in our disclosure.
The gear we carry a torch for
You'll notice this place gives shelf space to things an algorithm wouldn't — Japanese forgings from Endo, boutique builders, persimmon woods that still smell faintly of varnish. Some of it earns us nothing. It's here because a room like this should be run by people who love the craft, and because the golfer chasing an Epon deserves the same tidy shelf as the one chasing a Qi10.
Where this is going
We're building toward a used-club market where the details can be trusted — including tools that read a listing's photographs and check them against what the seller typed. Until every claim on this site can be checked that way, we'll keep doing it the old way: carefully, and in public. If something here is wrong, we want to know.
