The Epon AF-Tour, forged by Endo

Endo makes these, and Endo doesn’t do a lot of shouting about it, which might be why more people don’t know the name. What you get is a soft, dense forged feel that mass-production irons at ten times the volume can’t quite match — the kind of thing you notice on a pured 7-iron and then can’t stop noticing.

These aren’t for everyone. Thin topline, minimal offset, not much room for a mishit. If that description makes you nervous, this isn’t your iron. If it makes you want one, it’s worth the hunt — read our JDM forged irons guide before you buy one used, since the verification bar on boutique Japanese forges should be higher than usual.
